Offshoot of discussion in this thread regarding the codification of the standards for adding new groups of interest. At present time, we have 23 groups of interest along with several minor groups. The process for adding new ones has always been vague, so since they are going to be more visible in the near future it is time to codify them.
My suggestion for the rule on how to add a new group of interest is as follows:
- 20 articles, which can be SCPs, Tales, GoI Formats or other pieces of fiction on the SCP Wiki.
- A Group of Interest Hub
Currently, all groups of interest other than the Horizon Initiative, The Facory and Dr. Wondertainment meet all of these criteria. Every GoI has at least twenty pages attached to them.
Possible other methods of applying GoI standards, not necessarily advocating for any of these but they're additional criteria that could be helpful depending on how strict we wish to be:
- GoI Format in addition to the existence of a hub.
- X amount of time passed with people still wanting to use the group.
- X number of authors contributing to the GoI's body of work.
- The group has been issued with a tag.
- Direct application for adding the group to Administration to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis once other criteria have been met.
Discuss? This isn't time sensitive as we don't have anyone agitating to add a new group of interest at the present moment but if we're going to be linking to them from the topbar then it is reasonable to expect that there would be renewed interest in their creation.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
