I'm iffy on this. The post is absolutely not spam (which is not just 'quickly posting', but "contentless or excessively short posts"). It's not a serious RP, but simply extending the joke of the article.
It could technically violate —
You can comment on any entry provided you are respectful to other users.
— but that's, honestly, still a rarely enforced rule, even taken in its original meaning (AKA, respectful of the user currently being replied to).
One could also stretch "All comments must follow the Criticism Policy" to include this, but the Criticism Policy was intended for Criticism, not ill-advised attempts to extend an artistic piece into comment-based performance art (which is still on the piece itself).
I think there are grounds to discipline here, but I'm concerned about problematic precedent being established (or extended). I do agree that this was a shitty move (and of course it was deliberately mocking new users), and the bad reactions to it are more than merited. Mocking newbies in this way is vicious and pointless, and Jack should be ashamed.
But I'm concerned about officially disciplining for it, given that it's about a legitimate piece (albeit ethically shitty) and took place in the author comments of said piece. I'm concerned about how much we try to control the behavior of authors specifically with regards to their art, especially when it's bad art that should still be protected by our rules.
You could make an argument that the piece itself constitutes trolling/disruption (grounds which I might or might not agree with), but either way I don't see it; the audience that would be most upset by the article is unlikely to ever read it.
