I wrote this on the train today, let me know if anything is unclear.
PF - What was good? What could be used? Is it even worth bothering until we have incorporated and/or secured funds to run the servers? (Hint: No, because deploying PF will cost money that we haven't secured.) On the plus side, hosting our own content means we get the ad revenue rather than wikidot, which must be sizable for them to put up with us for this long.
New Lumberjack - Drupal is too vulnerable to continue use, and was fairly unreliable. Skybot doesn't natively support much in the way to securely log. Perhaps workable as a combination of a plugin and another project. Need to review log format.
Incorporation - Need to consult with a non-profit lawyer. Crowdfund for money. This is the big one. Holding a lot of projects back like the community marketplace. I feel like if we don't do it, someone else will, and we won't be able to prove sufficient standing to sue. Staff are here are stewards of the content, but that also includes the IP and trademarks. May require an IP lawyer consultation.
JSON API - Requested, but needs a more solid use case to bother creating.
SCP.BZ - Working as intended.
Trello - Issue tracking? Any interest?
Infringement Reporting - We need to provide an easy mechanism for this as a part of PF. Wikidot could shut the site down whenever they wish, really. I know of several images that we will likely never be able to license. Paying for licenses, if desired, should ultimately be the responsibility of the user to clear prior to posting. Before uploading images, the user needs to agree to terms acknowledging the need to properly license the media they upload. Youtube vs. Viacom gave us a lot of breathing room, but only if warnings are implemented properly.
O5COMMAND.COM - Currently inactive. The thought was to use it as a staff forum. That may still be the best use for it, hard to say.
Community Marketplace - This one is after incorporating and probably ideal to launch as close to the same time as PF as possible. The rough idea is that we provide a sanctioned site where people submit physical and digital goods for sale. The site gets a percentage to offset costs. The revenue split is undecided. Since the wikidot site has always been CC-BY-SA 3.0, without the -NC (noncommercial) designation, the authors entries originally posted there are not, strictly speaking, entitled to a cut of the revenue. That may not go over well, but the license is immutable and viral. We could not change this even if we wanted to. Also a concern, the content creator stealing the content/artwork/whatever from someone else. It would be financial suicide to launch this before incorporating. The logistics of how exactly this will work will be another problem; are we working like Etsy (i.e., a transaction broker?) Probably. Need to look into that business model a bit deeper, because there are a lot of potential traps (PCI-DSS compliance, Chargebacks, etc.)
I'm going to set up a Trello board, it's a little easier to loop things in than OneNote and more widely accessible.
