Greetings. The Sameframe studio representatives did address us with a similar request as well, although, after a brief consideration we decided not to grant their request for several reasons listed below:
First off, our policy towards third-party fan projects does allow information support, but within reasonable limits. "Reasonable" means placing and/or reposting posts in social media, making stickied posts, mentioning these projects in site news and placing permanent links to their projects. In case of articles and posts we prioritize the messages that inform the readers about significant progress, interesting features or important information for anyone it may concern. Requests for fund-raising, donations and other financial supports do not meet this criterion.
The second reason, of the ideological kind, is that we're more inclined to support projects that stemmed from the Foundation fanbase and are intended for the Foundation itself. Like the artbook that you all know. In case of Sameframe, no matter the movie's quality, it's just another entry in their studio's history, and that, according to our opinion, does not merit financial support.
Third, we were somewhat disappointed with our dialogue with their one of their studio's representatives, namely the screenwriter. As the discussion went, he subjected our licensing policy to criticism, stating that we might as well film a great movie of our own. The fact that our activity profile is different, was not being taken into account, neither were our reasons for choosing this specific license. Furthermore, he suggested that we change our license to fit the studio's needs (they were planning to transfer the license to some TV channel). This member was subsequently banned for altering a translated article, an action forbidden by our rules. That made us think he did not attempt to read the site's rules but did attempt to teach us how to perform administrative duties.
Fourth and final, the license our site uses does not allow any commercial usage of the materials hosted on it. Publishing a fund-raising post for Sameframe on our main page will violate the license directly.
Sincerely, Gene R
SCP-RU master administrator.
UPD: Serj has contacted me. Turns out the person who contacted us regarding the license was not affiliated with the Sameframe studio at all. Seems like we were misinformed (the text above was composed by Osobist and me). Please disregard the "Third" part.
