Echoing Meserach, Yossi & Conwell - many of the definitions provided by Bleep above assume a permanence of our current staff structure, which can go wrong really fast.
Yossi and Conwell's definitions for the following terms, IMO, are pretty good:
- The Site/Wiki
- The Community
- Reader
- Site Member
- Content Creator
- Staff
- Policy
I am not sure if we need to define Author and Artist, but that will depend on what we end up writing, really.
Here's a few other things I think we'll need to define which aren't necessarily wiki related, along with my reasoning for their inclusion:
- Reasonable Effort: A lot of the things we do are "we'll do this to the best of our ability," but for that we need to put a definition to how much effort we should extend on any given topic. Is it "as much as humanly possible?" "As much as staff feels like at the moment?" "As many projects as we could handle if half of staff were to one day vanish off the face of the earth?" That way we have a frame of reference for how much effort we should be extending on any given project.
- Poor Behavior: What are the things that we think should result in some form of action taken against the individual? Similarly,
- Unacceptable Behavior: What are the things that we think should result in absolute expulsion from the community and/or position? This could probably be phrased less as a bullet-list of items, and moreso like a general feel for what should not be allowed. For example - "Repeatedly taking actions for the benefit of the self or an acquaintance which could or had led to instability, emotional turmoil, or poor quality of life for the site as a whole."
Also, we might wanna define what an "Article/Work posted to the site" is. It's obvious but still, just to be sure.
