Winter Promotions 2022
See Promotion-Procedure and Promotions-Policy for how these promotions will be generally handled.
These are votes of confidence. If you are unfamiliar or on the fence about someone, vote NO. Only vote yes if the candidate has your confidence and genuinely feels ready for promotion in your mind.
Please post even if you are abstaining from voting.
Staff may abstain from voting on all votes. If more than one third of staff abstain on a user, and/or less than 60 per cent of voters say yes, this is treated as a no. I will be rounding down.
This promotion vote will end in:
Please note this is the largest promotion vote in staff history. There are a LOT of candidates. With changes to promotion policy, OS+ are able to vote on Operational Staff AS WELL AS moderators. Please make sure to vote on both sets of candidates so promotion staff don't have to pester you.
Operational Staff Voting:
This is an open vote for operational staff and above.
Below is a group of suggestions regarding JUNIOR STAFF who Team Captains have nominated to be voted upwards to OPERATIONAL STAFF. Please read the commentary provided in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Junior Staff Member: | |
Captain/Team: | |
Why: | |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Junior Staff Member: | hungrypossum |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Viviarium: | Possum is a very consistant tagger and has done more for wikiwalk then anyone else on the sub-team (including me!). Possum is one of MAST's best JS this cycle. They have assisted me multiple times in introducing new JS to their roles and odds are I will be making them a section head of wikiwalk alongside myself if they successfully pass this cycle. All of this does not include their various other work in watching the forums and other staff related tasks. They deserve this promotion. |
Why DrBleep: | Possum is part of a super-group of Junior Staff that have risen in the last two cycles thanks to Vivariums vivacious recruiting efforts. Possum's work ethic is solid, they're one of our most active taggers, and as Viv mentioned, they have tackled large portions of the remaining links for Wikiwalk 4.0. They display an awareness of the challenges of entering into staff and junior staff, and make a point to go out of their way to inundate new Junior Staff and members of MAST to the sections in which they are most active. Cannot recommend them enough. For a semi-comprehensive overview of their work see http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/hungrypossum. |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time. Make sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | Jack Waltz |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Vivarium: | Jack has been a very active tagger, and has been a routine help within MAST. Outside of my team, they have also assisted with critiquing the idea forums and have successfully participated in a flight. While they may not be the most notable JS of this crop, they have a good head on their shoulders and have an excellent work ethic. I believe they deserve this promotion. |
Why DrBleep: | Jack is one of our most active taggers, and regularly pitches in with general MAST work in various other sections. They are one of the quieter members of this crop of amazing MAST juniorstaff, but that is not a bad thing by any means. They have great dedication to their work and balance their workload well. See http://waltz-sandbox.wikidot.com/jack-waltz-the-page for an overview of their work. |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time, but do try and participate more in general policy discussions. Make sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | Jerden |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Vivarium: | Jerden has slowly become one of our most well known JS on the team. They have done massive improvements to various collaborative pages and has even made multiple hubs without needing to be asked. As of the writing of this blurb, they are working on a frankly impressive rewrite of the Site Dossier page that I currently going through the staff review phase. They are very active and always working on something. Like Sid, they are also an ambassador for EN and has done excellent work inside the INT servers. They are with all due respect a beast and should be promoted. |
Why DrBleep: | Jerden is easily one of the most visible members of MAST's junior staff and I have a lot of praise and good things to say about them. On a purely work level, Jerden is a machine, tackling any and all work they can get their hands on within the team, and having branched out beyond it into areas like -INT Ambassadors representing -EN. Their work has been focused on improving collaborative pages, and expanding/shaping up staff driven universe and site lore pages. This is a thankless task that has long been neglected, or heaved off onto authors and is now thriving under Jerden's frankly astonishing level of curation and thoughtfulness. Their work is foundational to a lot of often neglected aspects of Wikiwalk (notably the creation and expansion of many hubs). Beyond their raw work, Jerden displays levelheaded long term thoughtfulness on the front of policy and policy implementation, especially when it comes to curation, site maintenance, and long term interaction with the authorbase through the universe and articles. Their conduct in -INT as a representative of -EN has been immensely beyond what I would expect from a junior staff, and even of many operational staff and moderators. Jerden sees the big picture of policy and projects, and site maintenance in a way that I would expect from an Administrator. Because of this Jerden is cream of the crop this cycle, and I cannot recommend their promotion hard enough. http://scpdsandbox.wikidot.com/jerden-mast |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time. Always be sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | LemonBee12 |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: | Much like Jerden, LemonBee has been actively adding to and maintaining many different pages within MAST's jurisdiction including the Personnel and Character Dossier, esoteric object class list, complete task force list, and complete k class list, and they have been a very active tagger. On top of this they have also assisted with general maintenance across the team. In my opinion they deserve a promotion for this work and their steady tagging work. http://smlt.wikidot.com/lemonbee12:sandbox |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time, but I would recommend speaking more during staff discussions and adding your voice to the chorus. Everyone's view point in staff is important, so don'tbe shy about speaking up if you have something to say. Just be sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | Siddartha Alonne |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Vivarium: | They have been a huge help in MAST when it comes to consistently and quickly making edits to O5 Command whenever I need changes to be made. On top of that they have also recently been working with me in Wikiwalk and have accelerated our speed greatly. Their overall work ethic in my team is enough of a reason for me to promote them to OS, but their work in INT as one of our ambassadors makes me believe they have earned it and then some. With an all around cool headed demeanor and a helpful disposition, I think they are ready to be OS. |
Why DrBleep: | Like Jerden, Siddartha is one of MAST's most visible junior staff. They are one of three pillars of O5 command updating, and consistently look to improve the way we present and record changes to staff composition, as well as team page presentation. They've been a huge help on wikiwalk. Their work on -INT has been instrumental in smoothing several situations between -INT and -EN and the various branches, and they conduct and hold themselves to a level that I would expect from an experienced moderator as opposed to a Junior Staff. Siddartha, like Jerden, has a consistent big picture view of site dynamics and policy, a fact which has consistently been on display in recent policy discussions concerning both MAST/-INT work/changes. They have thoroughly earned their promotion to operational staff, and I cannot recommend them enough. http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/sid-alonne-js-sandbox |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time. Always be sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | stormfallen |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Vivarium: | Stormfallen has been working alongside SCP staff as a chat staff member for a very long time, and only recently joined MAST. In there short time on staff, they have been a very active O5 Command Updater. They are constantly monitoring the various rosters to insure their accuracy and has on more then one occasion reminded me to make necessary edits that I had forgotten. They are very active during staff discussions and typically ferry concerns from general users for us to address. Their solid work ethic, amount of time on site, and their knowledge of staff processes earn them a promotion in my opinion. |
Why DrBleep: | Stormfallen joined MAST as junior staff back in the summer of 2021, and quickly made themselves known via their exceptional work on O5 updating, as well as regularly volunteering for general non-section specific MAST projects. Storm has a solid work ethic, and a healthy balance between staffwork and their real life committments. In addition, Storm is attentive, and exceptionally knowledgable about most staff discussions and policy initiatives. They take the time to contribute to policy discussion, often providing a level, and at times, much needed cynical outlook without being unproductively obstructionist. Outside of MAST work they are vigilant in watching onsite happenings, and noticing when things are happening in the forums or article wise require staff attention, as well as poking people to update necessary staff lists on O5. On a personal level, I've known storm for the better part of four years, and events in the middle of last year were exceptionally unfair to him as a junior staffer. He's since bounce backed and proved himself an invaluable member of MAST, and a member of staff that has a level head about policy commitments. Strongly recommend storm for operational staff. http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/stormfallen |
Optional areas of improvement: | None at this time. Just be sure to pace yourself. Don't burn out and be a good role model for future JS. |
Junior Staff Member: | Woedenaz |
Captain/Team: | aismallard stormbreath (Tech) |
Why: | Woedenaz is a skilled and capable member of Tech, and has maintained several notable technical components, even prior to his time as a member of the team. He's been working at an operational staff level for a while, and we feel he will be a valuable contribution to staff. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Junior Staff Member: | Pedagon |
Captain/Team: | pr0m37h3um (Recap) |
Why: | Pedagon is a workhorse for Recap. He does a lot of work in helping to figure out the logistics of what should and shouldn't be recapped, can recap very effectively on his own, and is a great communicator when it comes to Recap engaging with people in other community spaces like SCPDeclassified, having been one of the strongest reform advocates during the period of time when Recap was first being proposed and formed. This in addition to his work on other teams and with ongoing policy discussion and creation makes him a prime candidate for Operational Staff. |
Optional areas of improvement: | Pedagon's work is somewhat intermittent at times, which is completely understandable considering he's a real adult with real commitments, but I would advise him to try to note his expected unavailability, as it can sometimes throw things off when unannounced. |
Junior Staff Member: | GremlinGroup |
Captain/Team: | pr0m37h3um (Recap) |
Why: | Holy shit, Greebo. He keeps records, helped to transition the team to using Jira, gets new recruits warmed up, and helps to make sure things are on schedule. He's a real workhorse for the team, and his work in both writing recaps and reviewing existing recaps is always top-notch. I don't know what I'd do without him. He's also very active in policy discussions, so the increased access in staffchat would allow him to more effectively engage to topics brought up in sensitive channels, as well as making following up on thing significantly easier. |
Optional areas of improvement: | I would advise Greebo to be a bit more thoughtful with the way he responds to certain things in staffchat, as there's been one occasion where I've been asked to speak to him regarding his conduct, and others where I was not asked but felt it pertinent. |
Junior Staff Member: | Marcelles_Raynes does not match any existing user name |
Captain/Team: | Limeyy (Site Crit) |
Why: | Mars has been doing serious work in #thecritters, an often thankless job, doing extremely well at guiding new users and being (at my quick scan of logs) the most active person in a channel that's often understaffed and exhausting. On top of this, they've been a positive pillar in many community spaces, and one I'd love to see take a larger role in staff workings. |
Optional areas of improvement: | I'd like to see Mars take a larger interest in policy and staff workings at large outside their little bubble which they are currently excelling at. |
Junior Staff Member: | Siddartha Alonne |
Captain/Team: | WhiteGuard (Community Outreach) |
Why: | Siddartha was one of the few people that I handpicked, and I have been quite proud of the work he has produced and the demeanor he has shown while being a member of Junior Staff. In addition to being an active member of my 05updating team on MAST, he has been a consistent and hard worker on Site News. Consistency, hard work, and passion are all qualities you find in Siddartha Alonne, and I am delighted to put him up for promotion. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Junior Staff Member: | Assistant Null |
Captain/Team: | Yossipossi LadyKatie (Internet Outreach) |
Why: | Null has been pretty much single-handedly carrying the Reddit for the past few months. Their insight is invaluable and their improvement in temperament is incredible. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Junior Staff Member: | Jerden |
Captain/Team: | LadyKatie (Internet Outreach.) |
Why: | Jerden's been a wonderful positive presence in INT as long as they've been present. I don't know how many of you know this, but they'd been doing MAST type work on INT before I officially picked them up. In addition, ambassador work is complicated and has a learning curve that they've taken to well. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Junior Staff Member: | Siddartha Alonne |
Captain/Team: | LadyKatie (Internet Outreach) |
Why: | Sid's been doing great work balancing EN and INT. I'm confident they can keep this up as Opstaff. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
To Moderator:
This is an open vote for operational staff and above.
Below is a suggestion regarding an OPERATIONAL STAFF MEMBER whose Captain has nominated to be voted upwards to MODERATOR. Please read the commentary provided by Team Captain in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Operational Staff Member: | |
Captain/Team: | |
Why: | |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Operational Staff Member: | CityToast |
Captain/Team: | Yossipossi LadyKatie (Internet Outreach) |
Why: | Perhaps one of our best staffers who still somehow isn't a moderator. Beyond their tremendous licensing work, they're also a valuable member of the Facebook and TikTok, helping build the platforms tremendously. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Operational Staff Member: | OptimisticLucio |
Captain/Team: | Yossipossi LadyKatie (Internet Outreach) |
Why: | Lucio has been a controversial candidate for a long time, though I (Yossi) wanted to put him up for two cycles now. He's been invaluable in coordinating various IO undertakings, and has often been the person who's willing to "just do it" when no one else is willing/able to. Solid choice. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Operational Staff Member: | OptimisticLucio |
Captain/Team: | Vivarium DrBleep (MAST) |
Why Vivarium: | Lucio has been around for quite awhile. They have been the section head of Navigation and have helped push forward multiple navigational changes/proposals. They are an active reddit mod and helped CO with site news prior to its hiatus. They are a very active staffer In general as well, being apart of multiple policy proposals including the art pages rework, recap team, and the VoNC. As you can probably tell, they do a lot of things, enough in my opinion to earn himself a promotion. |
Why DrBleep: | Lucio is one of the most active, and involved staffers currently within the roster, on any team. They have a tenacity and doggedness to pursue and get things done in a way that often ensures projects get done, especially in MAST where since they took over the Navigation sub-section, Navigation has seen a lot of progress and activity whereas before it was dead in the water. Generally if I need something done in a specific way, Lucio is one of my go to staffers, and is always willing to pitch in. Additionally, I have seen phenominal improvement in their attitude, demeanor, and patience in the last few cycles that has been very satisfying to watch. Lucio has come a long way in terms of his conduct, approach, and ability to work with others, in tandem with his ability to get things done, where I'm at a point that I'm comfortable promoting him to Moderator. http://scpdsandbox.wikidot.com/lucio-wants-promotion |
Optional areas of improvement Vivarium: | There have been times in the past where you have, by virtue of your tenacity and work ethic, jumped a bit to fast into projects and missed valuable opportunities to communicate or seek critique from other staff members/teams. While your ability to get shit done is a respectable trait, you must also be thorough and methodical about what you do. With this promotion you will essentially have the keys you need to handle a lot of the changes you want to execute. Be sure to handle this with care. |
Optional areas of improvement DrBleep: | Like Vivarium mentioned above, Lucio has a tendancy to rush into work, projects, or policies in order to get things done. This has improved substantially since the last round of promotions, but I want to continue to see it improve as a part of putting them up for promotion. Additionally, receptiveness to ideas, and compromise are critical components of staffwork and policy formulation. Lucio has demonstrated remarkable insight at times into the mechanics, or cause and effect behind staff and/or public responses and adjusts, but there are times where he gets stuck in a loop of logic and is unable to shake off or consider any other ideas that could be used as a compromise to what he's proposing. This has lead to friction in the past, though I've seen less of it recently, and I hope to see it even less in the future. |
Operational Staff Member: | Limeyy |
Captain/Team: | Riemann (Site Crit) |
Why: | Limeyy has been an integral part of Site Crit since their introduction and has made an effective captain and vice captain. Their work on site crit has primarily been working on retooling it and introducing the discord-facing aspect, including the new field of art criticism in addition to literary crit. While this work is slow moving, they have demonstrated a commitment and prescience that is deserving of recognition. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Operational Staff Member: | Limeyy |
Captain/Team: | stormbreath (Rewrite) |
Why: | Limeyy has been an active member of staff and in pushing policy reforms as of late, but I'll be speaking to their involvement on Rewrite. Limeyy has been a great force on the team, being one of the most active members and handling the position of Vice Captain well. During my recent sabbatical, Limeyy stepped into the role of Acting Captain and was able to lead the team through some internal policy changes. However, in order to better perform the duties of the team, Limeyy needs to have the powers of moderator, in order to perform deletions, metadata changes and page locks. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Operational Staff Member: | HarryBlank |
Captain/Team: | pr0m37h3um (Recap) |
Why: | Harry had been Junior Staff since before I even joined staff, and was elevated to OS shortly after the founding of Recap. In the time since his recruitment, he's been one of the most diligent recappers on the team, almost single-handedly recapping both the latter half of November and the entire month of December, allowing us to release a recap quicker than we ever had before. This astonishing amount of initiative along with the work he does with other teams, particularly the Collections section of MAST, convince me that he not only deserves a promotion, but that his ability to help in other areas would only be improved by the additional permissions granted to Moderators. |
Optional areas of improvement: | Only that I hope he can keep it up without burning out (and avoid reaching burnout overall, even if that means slowing down). |
Operational Staff Member: | fabledtiefling does not match any existing user name |
Captain/Team: | Zyn (Forum Crit) |
Why: | fabled's site activity speaks for itself: they're consistently one of the most active quality reviewers on the forums, and they demonstrate patience with authors no matter what the query is. fabled writes thoughtful critiques, answers questions about the writing process, addresses rulebreaking and forum guidelines, and supports other reviewers when handling challenging material to review. fabled furthermore communicates well with the team and its captain, notifying us of context for authors who may be struggling, and their thoughts on Help Forum policy. Additionally, fabled has participated in the Butterfly Flights mentorships, and been repeatedly featured in the Reviewers' Spotlight. |
Optional areas of improvement: | This is more of a thing to continue to be aware of for the future… I do check in with fabled from time to time to make sure they're pacing themselves and taking breaks. Being an active reviewer with quality feedback leads to being in high demand. |
Vote YES or NO. Someone who you are ambivalent to should not receive your vote of confidence for staff, thus abstain or no. If you don't know who someone is, then I invite you to educate yourself and get to know their work before voting.
