New site member PurestLuna (account age 4 days, site membership 2 days) recently posted this thread for review: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-14146861/seeking-greenlight-hart-tapes
The initial revision noted:
Page Layout: I had an idea to split the Walten Files into two parts, the actual tapes (SCP-XXXX-A) and the animatronics, which an also going to be split up (SCP-XXXX-B-X)
Elevator Pitch:
Basically just the Walten Files
[…] The SCP Foundation finds the tapes and the animatronics due to a tip by Jack Walten, one of the co-founders of Bon's Burgers, who supposedly went missing before the restaurant opened.
When addressed by a reviewer about the material not adhering to Creative Commons, they replied: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-14146861/seeking-greenlight-hart-tapes#post-5034038
Thank you for the feedback! I was honestly hesitant about doing the Walten Files as an SCP because of the plagiarism. Obviously I was going to add references to the creator of the Walten Files series but it's unoriginal. I'm thinking of doing something similar to this and add my own twists to it. What do you think?
The name was then changed to "Hart Tapes:
Page Layout: I had an idea to split the SCP into two parts, the actual tapes (SCP-XXXX-A) and the dolls that came along with the tapes, which is also going to be split up (SCP-XXXX-B-X).
[…] Credit to the Walten Files, a horrifying series on Youtube created by Martin Walls that inspired me to create this SCP. The whole series can be found here
the material still seems to borrow heavily from the Walten Files premise: https://the-walten-files-new.fandom.com/wiki/Company_Introductory_Tape just swapping out some of the names (Annabelle Hart for Jack Walten).
They also PMed me seeking critique. I told them that I wasn't sure what they had was different enough to adhere to CC, and they responded:
A major difference between my piece and the inspiration source is I'm focusing of dolls and the actual effect of the anomaly. I realized that just re-writing the inspiration in SCP form was an extremely terrible move and I'm sorry for that. I believe that my SCP concept is different from the inspiration and will credit the inspiration for being the inspiration
…which makes me think they don't understand how the CC license works. Anyway, putting this up for records-keeping given that they are oddly insistent on SCP-ifying this material (which is already a reference to FNAF, and has already been misinterpreted by other fanwork-makers based on the comments in the youtube video).
ETA: after I mentioned I could bring in a Licensing Team staff member to confirm whether their usage would adhere to CC, they replied
Yes. Please bring a Licensing Team member. Sorry to be a burden
Could someone post in their thread about this, please?
