Noting that Euclid Cuttlefish recently coldposted an article. Upon it receiving downvotes and a review, they responded:

I don’t get what’s up with all this BS critiquing as of recent. Seriously, if you use this system on half of series 1 then none of them would even exist. Not every SCP has to be unnecessarily complex. I mean, hell, just take a look at 173! That is literally the most simple SCP on the entire site and it is CONSTANTLY talked about as one of the best. Seriously, I cannot even comprehend how you guys that have been on here since the beginning can complain about stuff like this.
This is not the first time they've been upset that 173 exists, and used it to try and argue that their work doesn't need to meet higher expectations: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-13991646/digital-amnesics-scp-5669-proposal#post-4889677
On top of all this, what about stuff like 173? It doesn't have a narrative either, and all of its "Narrative" was added years later in random joke SCP's and random side stories like the one where it takes over the world. Other than those, the original file is even more bare than what I've done and its basically praised by everyone here.
Keep an eye on. Thus far it seems like standard authorial frustration/misunderstanding more than outright malice.
