So I screwed up and made an idea post that exceeded the max word limit. Since I can't, for whatever reason, delete a post I instead made a new one at http://www.scpwiki.com/forum/t-13692389/getting-mad but now see it's been blocked. It's not the biggest deal in the world but it's unclear what we're expected to do in such a case.
Also, I'm a complete noob here but what in the world is going on with the wikidot platform? I can't be the first one to say it doesn't seem stable, right?
I explained to them:
- The required reading: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-13282684/required-reading:how-to-use-this-forum-ideas notes, "Do not create a new thread for a concept already on the forum, unless the current thread has not been posted on in 14 days or longer."
- Edit the post that needs to be changed, rather than deleting it.
- From what I recall, it's [the platform is] old and maintained by a largely absent very small team from overseas. Beyond that, you would need to ask our site technical team staff to explain the specifics.
They sent back the reply 5 days ago:
Another way to put it is "the developer(s) have essentially disappeared and abandoned their user base".] You sure there's a plan for the long term here Zym?
To while I responded with "This would be a question for our technical team staff." and got the more aggressive reply today:
Not to be too blunt but no, it's definitely a question for everyone. Sounds like there *might* be a migration plan but have you ever been a stakeholder in a shoestring cross platform migration before? It's not fun. You're probably going to end up manually reconstructing any incompatible/corrupted stuff you don't want gone forever, and that's *if* things go well.
Honestly your best hope is that the wikidot team miraculously comes back to the table.
…which I'm kind of confused about, since I've already told them that the specifics are known by the technical team. I have not responded to the most recent message. Has anyone else gotten messages from this user? They haven't been active on the main wiki since the day they sent the first PM to me.
