Recent conversation among Staff has led to a review of how our current Site Charter handles relationships between staff and the greater community. As thus, we intend for the following will be added to the charter as behavior that is grounds for discipline, up to removal of staff and site membership:
- Advertising one's status as staff in NSFW spaces explicitly.
- Attempting to use one's status as staff as leverage for NSFW behavior, sexual favors, or similar.
“Advertising” one’s self…
The SCP Foundation is a deeply important hobby space for many, and it brings with itself a wide level of visibility. For the most part, we would rather Staff avoid sharing their Wiki handles between the SCP Wiki and obviously sexually-charged spaces.
Additionally, we do not want staff to actively broadcast their position on the wiki on platforms dedicated to adult material.
For example, if you have constructed a profile on a mature meetup environment, we advise that you avoid something such as, “Also known as Dr Redacto, Moderator of the SCP Foundation Wiki.”.
Instead, if you want to still include your place on SCP in other spaces, we advise considering something such as, “Dr Redacto, author at the SCP Wiki,” in a hobby section.
“Leverage”
Any staff found to have been used their position as leverage in regards to NSFW behaviour or favours will be immediately banned from the wiki.
This charter does not concern relationships between consenting adults; relationships wherein staff status is not relevant to the dynamics of the relationship; or spaces in which one's status as a staff member is completely tangential if mentioned.
A rule of thumb would be, “Would this relationship exist if I was not Staff”?
Addition to be Made
The below material will be added to Site Charter;
X. Staff Relationships and Adult Activity
1. Staff members found to have leveraged their position as staff to extort favours of a sexual nature from any user will be demoted and banned immediately, with no opportunity for appeal.
2. Staff are not to directly advertise their current position in the SCP Wiki’s staff structure on platforms where adult activity is expected or the norm. “I am [REDACTED], Moderator of SCP Wiki” is unnecessary; “[REDACTED], writer at SCP Wiki” is more acceptable, if among other hobby listings. It’s not necessary to fully isolate one’s self identity between the Wiki with other platforms, but a level of division is expected and heavily encouraged.
