This is more of an appetite discussion but how would staff think of a recruitment drive for junior staff? It has been brought to attention that several teams have less public facing operations than other teams which reflects in size of interest to junior staffing, not necessarily the amount of work needing to be done by each team. I'm suggesting that we have a regular interval announcement of the following:
- A list of teams that are looking for more junior staff, which includes
- The specific responsibilities of the team as a whole, or a brief introduction of such
- The specific responsibilities of a specific junior staff role in the team
- The point of contact in which to apply (a captain/vice captain/team member responsible, a thread, etc)
This order of such can be randomized on each interval for fairness. What do people think of this idea? It allows for the following pros:
- Interested parties can pick and choose teams to apply to
- Each team is under no obligation to take in or accept any applicant
- Each team is under no obligation to list themselves as looking for more junior staff
- If this is on a regular schedule, the community can expect regular updates on X date about this (not unlike promotions)
- Teams are allowed to individually recruit as needed and the regular announcement interval will serve as a guaranteed opportunity for all teams
Admittedly, effectiveness of this may be uncertain, so I would be open to a set number of trial runs to gauge interest. Also, if this in general is a good idea, what should our interval be and how far should this announcement spread (social medias, just forums, etc?)
EDIT: I'm currently willing to take in opinions of all levels of staff, with junior staff (since they are most likely to know what worked best at recruiting them) posting with permission from another member of operational staff or above. :>
